Men's Rings

Men’s rings have been worn throughout history. From when diamonds were first discovered, men have been adorning themselves with the precious stone. Diamonds were first seen in Roman jewellery somewhere between the First and Third Centuries C.E. Men's rings were set with small sizes of diamonds, more yellow or brown in shade, in rough form, with the points showing. These acted as Talismans, warding off evil and such men's jewellery has been found in the archaeological record. Legendary characteristics such as fearlessness and courage were thought to be bestowed on the owner and 14th Century figures such as Cosimo de' Medici used them in this way, with some owners even wearing them on the battlefield. Philosophers have, through the ages commented that diamonds worn within men's rings would protect the bearer from harm. Medieval Crowns worn in the 14th Century by rulers of the Holy Roman Empire were set with small diamonds amongst other precious stones.  Curiously enough, a law issued by Saint Louis (Louis IX) in France (1214-1270) stated that it was forbidden for women to wear diamonds, in fact they could only be worn by the King. At this particular time in history, we see a true monopoly of diamonds reserved purely for men,s jewellery. Such historical figures as Charles the Bold, the Duke of Burgundy (1433-1477) who were avid collectors of diamonds and he himself had a vast array of men's jewellery including one of the very largest diamonds of the time.

Men's Earrings

Men’s stud earrings are by far one of the least feminine pieces of men’s jewellery worn by men. Archaeological reliefs showing men’s earrings have been found, dating from the reign of Darius (522-486 B.C.E) these were usually in the form of gold earring hoops, shown on reliefs. Later in history, during the early 20th Century, men’s earrings were an emblem of equatorial achievement amongst maritime travellers. The adornment with men’s diamond stud earrings is really more of a modern accessory which has gained notoriety during the later part of the 20th Century. Laurence Tureaud also known as Mr. T popularized the wearing of earrings in each ear, something that has become more commonplace in recent years. The music star Sean Combs is frequently pictured wearing a pair of men’s earrings of the diamond ear stud variety. The actor Jamie Foxx was regularly featured with his trademark diamond stud earrings (now substituted for non-diamond alternatives due to the issues surrounding conflict diamonds.) Rap-stars such as 50 Cent have captured “VS Bling” within their songs and within the earrings they wear. The round brilliant cut diamond earring stud is perfect for this. The fire given off suits the earring stud particularly well. The round shape also maintains a uniform appearance unlike other fancy shapes as they turn within the ear. Men’s earrings provide the wearer to either concentrate their budget between a pair of men’s earrings or alternatively to focus on a single diamond earring stud. This is purely a matter of personal taste and only complements the huge range of men’s jewellery currently available.

Varieties of Men’s Jewellery

There are many opportunities for wear for men, aside from an expensive watch. Diamond jewellery can be worn in the form of men’s diamond bracelets, or alternatively as a heavy diamond set wedding ring. In fact men’s wedding rings are one of the most popular items of jewellery worn today. Wider bands are often chosen for men’s rings, either plain or diamond set. The brushed or matt finish wedding rings are extremely popular and add a more masculine feel to the wedding ring. We can combine both a matt and polished finish with the men’s wedding rings we produce and if a less expensive alternative is required, we also provide men’s Titanium wedding rings in literally any design required. Titanium is a very hard metal, perfect for men’s jewellery. It can be engraved and finished in a variety of ways. As another alternative, the naturally white precious metal, Palladium is gaining in popularity for men’s rings. Men’s Palladium rings keep the naturally white colour of the metal and are very resistant to wear. As with Gold, Platinum and Titanium, there are also a number of finishes that can be applied. Over the years, we have produced a number of bespoke rings for men, including large solitaire diamond rings. Heavy Rolex style rings can be set with a central diamond for quite literally, any budget. The sky really is the limit when it comes to men’s diamond rings! Certain diamond cuts are particularly favored for men’s diamond rings. For example, a heart shaped brilliant cut would not really be suitable. Princess cuts, with their bold straight outlines are popular, along with other block shapes such as the Baguette cut; a rectangular step cut diamond, which can be set along the length of a ring.  Overall, no matter what piece of men’s jewellery you might be considering, Serendipity Diamonds can assist in finding that perfect piece at the perfect price. Whether you are looking at men’s rings or if you are considering a pair of men’s earrings, we can produce it for you. Any shape, weight, colour or combination.

Diamond Cufflinks

For any city gent or for the perfect finish to male grooming, diamond cufflinks are one of the luxuries, that fall in besides an expensive watch. There is little need for a wide range of elaborate styles, since individuality can  be provided in such cufflinks by custom made designs. Our diamond set cufflinks are created in 9ct Gold, since 18ct Gold increases weight and can weigh down the shirt cuffs more than necessary. Since the cufflinks are solid and are substantially weighted, 9ct Gold is adequate. Diamond cufflinks created with a satin finish are perfect for a contemporary feel and will enhance the final look of any double cuff shirt. You need only to look at individuals such as James Caan from Dragon's den to appreciate the juxtaposition of fine tayloring alongside well crafted simple diamond cufflinks. Even Peter Jones can be seen regularly wearing a pair of fine cufflinks. For anyone visiting some of the gentleman's boutiques on Bond Street, an appreciation will grow for such simple designs that do not detract from the overall combination of shirt, suit and cufflinks. We can create designs with hinged sprung attachments or fixed backs, depending on preference and individual tastes, to produce matching pair of elegant diamond cufflinks.
