At Serendipity Diamonds, we offer a comprehensive, bespoke or custom made design service. For anyone wishing to commission their very own piece of custom made jewellery, we can advise, design and manufacture any piece based upon your exact requirements. We offer different levels of service which range from design and manufacture from your brief, to us offering a range of custom designs for you to choose from as the next level. The following information is to provide a guide to bespoke rings, and jewellery and to offer examples of our previous commissions to gain a better understanding of how we work.

The images we produce, are designed on computer, and rendered out to give a lifelike appearance of the finished ring. CAD designed custom made, or bespoke rings, produced in this way, are manufactured from this model by Rapid Prototyping, which creates a perfect physical model of the design which can be used to cast the finished piece. At every stage from then on, the piece is worked on by hand receiving an enormous amount of attention, until the item is finally completed.

Commissioning a Bespoke Ring

It is never a very easy task to find out just how to start the ball rolling and many clients ask themselves, "Just how to I go about commissioning a bespoke ring?" The following details should make life a little easier and explain the process to you for such a project. Firstly we require a brief from you with as much information as you can possibly include. It is amazing how easy it is to overlook key factors, such as metal choice, diamond shape, finger size (where known) and budget. The last of these will often determine whether a custom made ring will indeed be feasible. Most bespoke commissions will require the best part of £600-700 of design and manufacturing costs, before even considering the materials themselves. (*Depends largely upon the individual project.)

Once we have corresponded (usually via email) about your specific requirements, and can put together a full quote for you, for the project, we will normally require an initial deposit of 10%. Following this deposit for the commission, the project then normally follows the following schedule of work.

•          Emailed confirmation of deposit payment with attached invoice in PDF format.  

•          C.A.D designs created for you to view, emailed for approval. (approx 1-2 weeks later)  

•          Approval or modification to ensure design meets your wishes.

•          If accepted, rapid-prototyping of computer design into model, ready to cast in your chosen metal

•          Casting of ring mount

•          Preparation of cast ring mount

•          Hallmarking at the Assay Office

•          Setting of diamonds within ring (where required)

•          Finishing (includes polishing your commission to the final mirror like finish)

•          Quality check. (We work to rigorous standards and each piece must pass our final quality checks)

•          Emailed notification of completion

•          Arrangement of final payment.

•          Insured delivery via Royal Mail Special Delivery.

 

 

Timescale from arrangement of the deposit until completion can vary depending on many factors, but a commission can be completed in as little as 4 weeks, where the project moves swiftly from design, to acceptance, and then through the manufacturing stages.
